Q3 2018: T-MOBILE AGAIN IN GROWING MODE

  • Strong customer growth in mobile contract customers, fixed broadband and TV customers

Prague, November 8, 2018 – In the third quarter of 2018, T-Mobile Czech Republic continued its growth trend. The operator has confirmed its position as the number one mobile phone on the Czech market and has achieved rapid growth in the field of fixed Internet and TV services, which have been used by more than 295,000 customers in the first nine months of 2018. T-Mobile has also continued to invest in the construction of its own optical infrastructure, and in August it has already opened its tenth data center in the Czech and Slovak Republics, strengthening its more than 30 % market share in data center business. Another new feature of the third quarter was launching a comprehensive solution of the Internet of Things for Small and Medium-sized Czech Companies or extending the T-Mobile TV program's offer of a pair of Digi Sport sports channels in HD quality.

Customers: Growing fix and IPTV 

Mobile:  As of 30 June 2018, T-Mobile’s mobile services were being used by more than 6.17 million customers, of whom more than 3.9 million were contract customers (64 % of the customer base) and more than 2.2 million were users of prepaid services.

Fixed broadband: In 2018, T-Mobile has changed the device acquisition model for selected fixed services. Customers no longer buy the device, but they rent it again, which is more beneficial to them. Fixed services, including xDSL, Fixed Internet Over the Air, or Plug-in Fixed Line Internet, are currently used 227,000 customers, including 64,000 new signings over the last 12 months.TV: T-Mobile TVs on IPTV or satellite platforms are used by almost 70,000 customers, by 10,000 more than in the middle of this year. The most widely used and most valued feature of T-Mobile's TV services is the back view, which is offered for seven days to all the customers. Customers look back over three million shows a month.

 

Increasing volume of data transferred in T-Mobile network

While the number of minutes or SMS protects stagnates, the total volume of data transferred in the T-Mobile network continues to grow significantly; it grew by 25.8 % and reached more than 43,300 TB. Average monthly data usage for tariff customers exceeded 1.2 GB/month, by 20 % more compared the same period in 2017. The introduction of Magenta 1 tariffs in 2018 – which offer the possibility to share the data volume in the group of users and extra data packages – contributed, among other factors, to the increased usage of data services.

Financial Indicators: Growth in Q1-Q3

Total revenues from mobile and fixed services, including hardware sales, exceeded CZK 20 billion in the first three quarters of this year, which represents year-on-year growth by 0.3 %. Revenues from mobile services totaled nearly CZK 14 billion. The average monthly revenue from mobile services per user (ARPU) was CZK 256.The intense usage of data services is mirrored in the share of non-voice services in ARPU from mobile services, which stayed at the level of 50 %.
