T-Mobile offers an ADSL modem with 3G backup

  • The new ZyXEL P-661HNU-F3 supports ADSL2+ and features the 3G backup function
  • Wi-Fi speeds of up to 300 Mbps

Prague, 14 March 2011 – Beginning today, T-Mobile is extending its portfolio with the first ADSL2+ modem with 3G backup. In the case of a fixed-line outage, customers need only to connect a 3G USB modem and continue surfing. The new ZyXEL modem can be purchased for prices starting at CZK 1 incl. VAT.

The ADSL2+ ZyXEL P-661HNU-F3 modem enables high-speed internet access via a fixed line and supports ADSL, ADSL2 and ADSL2+ technologies. It also features a practical 3G backup function, allowing customers to use high-speed mobile internet in situations when ADSL access is unavailable by connecting any 3G USB modem (e.g., Huawei E1823, which supports HSPA+, Huawei E1750 and ZTE MF637) via a USB port.

The modem's USB port can also be used to connect an external data storage device (FAT32) or to share a printer within a LAN. The modem is supported by the T-Mobile ADSL Manager application, which helps set up Wi-Fi connection.

The new modem is suitable for users of the 3v1 (“3in1”) bundle combining a voice tariff plan with fixed-line and mobile internet. Thanks to this combination, customers can get mobile internet and the 3G backup function completely free of charge.

The modem also features a switch with four Ethernet 10/100 Mbps ports together with an integrated firewall for greater LAN security. Wi-Fi 802.11n support enables wireless connection to the switch at speeds of up to 300 Mbps. The modem can be administered via an internet interface and can also be used by corporate customers, as it supports the T-Mobile Virtual PBX service.
