The 3G HSPA+ 42 network has been further extended: it is now available to more than 80% of Prague residents

Prague, 16 June 2014 – T-Mobile has made yet another step towards reaching its objective of covering the whole of the Czech Republic with fast mobile internet: it has put the LTE network into commercial operation in the Plzeň-South district and has launched several new LTE transmitters in Prague. The operator has also further expanded its 3G HSPA+ 42 network in the Czech capital: it is now available to more than four-fifths the city’s residents. T-Mobile’s fast 3G mobile internet network and LTE network will cover 93% of the population of the Czech Republic and 80% of its territory by the end of 2014.

“I believe that people in the Czech Republic deserve a new internet experience and I also believe that T-Mobile offers them the best that is available in our industry,” says Vladimír Klein, Technology Director at T-Mobile, adding: “Our customers truly have something to look forward to in the coming weeks and months, as the number of locations covered with fast internet will grow rapidly.”

T-Mobile has put into commercial operation a network of LTE transmitters in the entire Plzeň-South district of the Plzeň region, where in the first half of April it was first operator in the Czech Republic to launch trial operation of full-fledged fastest mobile internet in the 800 MHz frequency obtained at auction. Residents of Čížkov, Nové Mitrovice, Chlum, Klikařov, Velký Bor and many other communities are now able to enjoy the best mobile-internet technology with download and upload speeds of up to 75 Mbps and 25 Mbps, respectively.

T-Mobile’s LTE network in Prague, which also uses the 800 MHz frequency obtained at the frequency auction, newly covers the boroughs of Vinoř, Kbely and Čakovice and the community of Přezletice.

The operator wants to offer the fastest mobile internet primarily to customers in rural areas and smaller towns that are out of the 3G network’s reach. T-Mobile’s network currently registers 200,000 LTE-enabled mobile devices and more than 30,000 active users (i.e. users having an LTE-enabled device and SIM card, using a tariff plan that includes a data allowance and being in an area covered with LTE signal).
