T-MOBILE’S FAST INTERNET COVERAGE AVAILABLE TO 93% OF THE CZECH POPULATION

  • The operator’s 3G and LTE networks now cover 93% of the population of the Czech Republic
  • LTE coverage extends over 1,815 km of the country’s main roads and motorways, including most of the D1 and D5 motorways
  • Next year, T-Mobile will focus on other roads and recreation areas

T-Mobile has fulfilled its promise of making its fast mobile internet coverage (3G + LTE) available to 93% of the population of the Czech Republic by the end of 2014. The operator’s fastest mobile internet network (LTE) also covers 1,815 km of the country’s main roads, including the vast majority of the D1 and D5 motorways. The operator has also launched a new functionality on its public coverage maps, allowing users to determine whether indoor signal is also available in a particular area.

The operator’s LTE network now covers 672 villages, towns and cities of the Czech Republic, mostly located in the Vysočina, Central Bohemia, South Bohemia and South Moravia regions. Communities covered with LTE include, for example, Prague, Mladá Boleslav, Klatovy, Blansko, Kopřivnice, Velké Meziříčí, Kuřim, Vodňany, Telč and Vranov nad Dyjí. The LTE signal is also available to visitors of ski resorts in Karlov pod Pradědem, Klínovec, Černý důl and Strážné.

Until recently, T-Mobile had shown only outdoor coverage on its public maps. To increase customer satisfaction and enhance user comfort, the operator has launched a new functionality that allows customers to check whether only outdoor or also indoor coverage is available at a particular address.

“In 2015 we will continue covering villages, towns and cities of the Czech Republic. Moreover, we will focus on other important roads and recreation areas,” says Vladimír Klein, Technology Director at T-Mobile. Additionally, the operator is planning to put into commercial operation the VoLTE technology allowing standard IP calls in the LTE network, featuring very fast connection times and improving the quality of calls. In October last year T-Mobile became the first operator in the Czech Republic and one of the first operators in Europe to start an internal technical pilot operation of VoLTE in its network.
