T-MOBILE: TWO THIRDS OF CUSTOMERS STILL TOP UP THEIR PREPAID CARDS OUTSIDE THEIR HOMES

  • Even during the current state of emergency, customers most often top up credit at points of sale, tobacconists, terminals, or physical coupons
  • Online methods reduce the risk of physical contact
  • Thanks to 50% free credit, the average number of on-line recharges within My T-Mobile increased by two thirds

Prague, March 31, 2020 – During the current state of emergency, people should minimize their outdoor movement and physical contact with others. Yet, two-thirds of prepaid card users still most often top up their credit off-line – at the point of sale, at the newsagent's terminals, or by conventional rechargeable coupons. Online ways are much more convenient, safer and customers get 50% extra credit in the app or at My T-Mobile website. Even so, interest in online topping up has increased by only 4 percentage points in recent weeks.

“We would like to appeal to all Twist users that they do not have to leave the safety of their home to top up their credit. They can do it directly on the web, in the My T-Mobile mobile application or credit can be topped up online by one of their loved ones,” says Michal Podlucký, Head of Resident Customer Segment Management, adds: “The 50% bonus credit offer also increased the average number of topping up in our online channels by two thirds. Still, only one in three Twist card users use online topping up.”

During the state of emergency, the number of “outdoor methods” of topping up decreased by only four percentage points to 65%. Roughly a third of the recharge takes place online. This is one of the reasons why T-Mobile has been offering a 50% free bonus credit when topping up in the My T-Mobile mobile application or on its website, regardless of the number of transactions. Bonus credit can be used both for calls and SMS and for data packages, so that users can be in contact with their loved ones whenever they need. “Since March 18, we have given customers bonus credit in amount of millions of crowns,” says Michal Podlucký.

How and where to top up your Twist card online during an emergency:

  • My T-Mobile mobile application – 50% free bonus
  • My T-Mobile self-service – 50% free bonus
  • Credit card directly on the T-Mobile website – 50% free bonus
  • From the Invoice – top up in My T-Mobile and the amount is added to the monthly billing – 50% free bonus.

Some banks also offer to its clients to top up online via their banking applications or internet banking. This method is also safe in the current situation, but customers don’t get 50% extra credit from T-Mobile.
