T-Mobile is expanding its offer of fixed-line services with the launch of T-Mobile SAT TV on 22 January 2018. This new-generation satellite TV service is available in 100% of the territory of the Czech Republic and is an alternative to the IPTV platform in areas where sufficiently fast internet access is not available. T-Mobile can thus offer a modern TV service to all households in the Czech Republic.

The satellite TV service is a logical expansion of the operator’s fixed-line offer and a full-fledged complement to the successful IPTV platform of T-Mobile TV, which has been ordered by 35,000 customers since its launch in April 2016. In addition to a broad offer of channels that includes the most popular ones, and digital picture quality, it also features popular functionalities – TV archives with programmes from the previous two days, pausing of TV programmes that are currently being watched and rewinding by up to 60 minutes, the possibility of scheduling recording of programmes up to seven days in advance, and access for up to four set-top boxes within one household.

“We want to offer a modern digital TV service with a broad offer of channels also in places where the IPTV platform of T-Mobile TV cannot be used due to insufficient infrastructure and internet speeds,” explains Juraj Bóna, Vice President B2C Marketing and Product Management at T-Mobile, adding: “T-Mobile SAT TV is based on a solution developed and tested by our sister company, Slovak Telekom, whose offer is used by half a million customers in Slovakia. The advantages of our own solution is an offer of channels tailored to suit our customers’ preferences and further development of the service.”

With the basic S plan priced at CZK 399, customers can tune in 59 of the most popular channels (of which 15 are in HD quality); the broadest L plan offers 103 channels (23 in HD quality). Customers can choose from two KAON set-top boxes: the basic model priced at CZK 2,301 (CZK 100 when paid in instalments) or the premium model featuring a hard disk with 440 GB capacity and priced at CZK 3,451 (CZK 150 when paid in instalments). When signing a fixed-term contract for two years, customers will pay an installation fee of CZK 199; without the fixed-term commitment, the installation fee is CZK 2,499. A trained technician will help customers with installation and activation of the service. To be able to use the TV archives, customers need to have internet access with a minimum speed of 2 MBps.
