T-Mobile supports Pay-by-Mobile services and increases the m-payment limit

  • The new maximum limit per transaction is now CZK 1,200
  • New, more favourable conditions for vendors

Prague, 16 March 2011 – T-Mobile has long supported the expansion of mobile payments on the Czech market. The possibilities of using this payment method have now been significantly extended in areas where the low limit per transaction used to be an obstacle. Customers can purchase products and services comfortably using their mobile telephones, with the maximum payment amount being increased from the original CZK 700 to CZK 1,200.

“More than 1,000 transactions are made via this platform every day, which represents a 100% increase against last year's figures,” says Vít Šoupal, Senior Head of Mobile Payments at T-Mobile, adding: “The www.platmobilem.cz website is visited daily by 5,000 users in search of more information. Together with the increase of the transaction limit, TMCZ's commission has also been reduced, which makes the business conditions of the m-payment service more attractive for vendors. We perceive the increase of the maximum payment amount and improvement of the business conditions as key factors for future expansion of mobile-payment gateways, which is also evident in the response of our business partners.”

M-payment, one of the Pay-by-Mobile (“Plať mobilem”) payment methods, enables customers to make fast and secure payments for services and products via the web or WAP interface of their mobile telephones or over the internet. The service uses a website-based payment gateway. The payment method is suitable for selling tickets to music and sports events, offering insurance, software e-shops, gaming portals, etc. Payments are deducted from credit on prepaid cards or, in the case of contract customers, they are charged on the monthly Statement of Services.

The simple and convenient method of payment via Pay-by-Mobile (either in the form of SMS payments or m-payments) can be used to purchase tickets to festivals, public transportation tickets, e-books and travel insurance, pay parking fees, highlight advertisements on advertising web portals, buy mobile content and place bets online. In future, this payment method should be expanded to other areas, such as sale of cinema tickets, tickets to various sports and cultural events, intercity travel tickets, goods in e-shops.

The uniform “Plať mobilem” payment brand, in the introduction of which T-Mobile was actively involved, came into existence in cooperation with members of the Association of Mobile Network Operators. It aims to present to customers, in a comprehensible manner, various forms of mobile payments (payment gateways, Premium SMS, Donor SMS and Audiotex) and the possibilities of using them.
