T-MOBILE TO DELIVER TECHNOLOGIES FOR THE MOST ADVANCED SMART CITY IN THE CZECH REPUBLIC

Oaks Prague, a smart city to be built in Nebřenice near Prague

T-Mobile will provide smart home technologies, a large integration portal, cloud services and connectivity

The technologies to be supplied will be intuitive while also being effective and secure

T-Mobile has developed a technological and philosophical smart home concept for the residential project Oaks Prague, which pushes the standard possibilities of a smart home to the level of a smart city. The objective was to create such an environment for the future residents that will offer a high standard of living and pleasant, intuitive and secure housing. “The basic precondition for the entire solution was that all technologies could communicate with one another and, at the same time, they are maximally unobtrusive with respect to the residents, not burdening them with a large number of control elements,” says Rudolf Urbánek, ICT and Corporate Segment Director at T-Mobile, adding: “The investor required that all technologies should be practically invisible but do their work at one hundred percent.”

The investor, Arendon Development Company, places great emphasis not only on modern technologies but also on the social and cultural quality of living. The company gives absolute freedom and a possibility of individual choice to its clients – the smart city concept thus leaves maximum space for implementation of the future residents’ own ideas. “Our primary objective is to provide residents of smart homes natural living comfort, without the need of having to intricately set up or control anything inside or outside the house all the time. A proper smart home reflects the habits of those living in it and finds an optimum setup,” says Radek Šimek, Sales and Marketing Director at Arendon Development Company, adding: “T-Mobile is for us the provider of these smart technological solutions.”        

T-Mobile has also been developing a special portal that will be an integration component of the entire project. “Oaks Prague residents will thus have a possibility to control their personal account from any device. This account will then serve as a key for using all services and products within the smart city,” explains Rudolf Urbánek. The portal will feature not only information about the homes but also about the current traffic situation and planned events. The portal will also enable the residents to communicate with neighbours, book wellness activities and tee times and order from a broad offer of local services. Users will further be able to access invoices for all these integrated services via this portal.

Additionally, the operator will supply above-standard high-speed fibre-optic access (FTTH) to each home within the project. An internal dedicated network will thus be available within the complex, providing high security for all data thanks to a private cloud solution located in the T-Mobile data centre.
