  • Nearly 450 employees got involved in the sixth edition of the internal fundraising campaign
  • T-Mobile matched the entire amount donated by its employees
  • The Supporting Stories campaign won the Czech Donors Forum Awards

Prague, 10 January 2019 – The time before Christmas is traditionally linked at T-Mobile with the Supporting Stories (“Pomáhejme příběhům”) fundraising campaign aimed at supporting families and friends of the operator’s employees who are facing a difficult life situation, most often due to illness or accident. The operator organised the sixth edition of the campaign as part of which CZK 1,009,900 will be distributed to support 20 stories. Half of the amount was raised among the employees, while the other half was added by T-Mobile.

Within the project, employees nominate their family members and friends to whom they want to provide financial assistance. The stories are registered in a dedicated fundraising application through which money is subsequently raised. T-Mobile then matches the amount contributed by its employees. Nearly 450 people got involved in the latest edition, contributing on average to four stories. All stories ultimately received the target amount requested.

“We are happy that each year the fundraising campaign motivates our employees to take part in volunteering activities. It has become more and more popular, which is evidenced by the fact that the capacity for twenty stories was filled this year within a few hours. Less than two weeks were then needed to raise the necessary amount. The fundraising campaign has met with a positive response not only from our employees but also from experts and other companies that draw inspiration from it,” says Martina Kemrová, Senior Corporate Communication Manager at T-Mobile, adding: “The Supporting Stories project won in the Employee Fundraising Campaign category of the latest edition of the Czech Donors Forum Awards, which we really appreciate very much.”

More than one million Czech crowns will be distributed among children and adults. The contributions will most commonly be used to pay for rehabilitation treatments and medical aids. However, the project is also helping to fulfil several dreams: for example, it will pay for the equipment of sheltered housing for a mentally disabled man and send a 14-year-old boy scout, whose mom is in a difficult life situation following a serious accident, to a Jamboree in the United States (a gathering of more than 50,000 scouts from 170 countries). The money raised will also help a blind man named Lukáš to get out of a spiral of micro loans in which he found himself due to financial illiteracy.
