The maximum speed in T-Mobile’s LTE network increased to 375 Mbps

T-Mobile has increased the theoretical maximum speed in its LTE network, which is thus currently the highest in the Czech Republic. With the LTE Advanced technology based on the aggregation of three bands (carrier aggregation function), download and upload speeds in three locations can now reach 375 Mbps and 50 Mbps, respectively.

“Expanding LTE coverage and improving the quality of its parameters are the key priority for us. By combining three bands, we have moved another step forward,” says Vladimír Klein, T-Mobile’s Technology Director, adding: “I am very pleased that data traffic in our LTE network has been growing rapidly – at the end of November, it even exceeded traffic in the 3G network.”

The operator has combined the 2100 MHz band (with 20 MHz bandwidth), the 1800 MHz band (with 20 MHz bandwidth) and the 800 MHz band (with 10 MHz bandwidth) in three locations – at its headquarters in Prague’s Roztyly district, in Jíloviště (Prague-West district) and in Hlušice (Hradec Králové region). The LTE Advanced (LTE-A) technology based on the aggregation of three bands is currently supported by the Samsung Galaxy S6+ EDGE, whose users will soon have an opportunity to enjoy the increased speeds following a planned firmware update.

T-Mobile was the first operator in the Czech Republic to launch LTE-A. By aggregating two bands at the end of June 2014, it increased the maximum download and upload speeds in Mladá Boleslav to 225/50 Mbps.
