The number of T-Mobile TV customers is growing. The operator will soon reward the 111,111th customer of its TV service

Prague, 13 June 2019 -T-Mobile is anticipating the 111,111th activation of the T-Mobile TV service at the end of June. On this occasion, the operator will reward not only the happy customer number 111,111 but also other 11 winners of the guessing competition on the T-Mobile CZ Facebook profile. T-Mobile has also prepared a significant discount applicable for the first three months following new activation of TV services via the e-shop. In terms of the number of subscribers, the operator has become the fourth largest TV service operator in the Czech Republic.

Digital TV (IPTV) service was added to T-Mobile’s offer in April 2016 and the operator launched satellite TV service less than two years later. At the end of 2018, the TV service from T-Mobile on the IPTV and satellite platforms was being used by more than 85,000 customers, which is 49,000 more than in the preceding year. T-Mobile TV crossed the 100,000-customer mark this year and the operator has now decided to reward the 111,111th customer who activates the service. It is estimated that this milestone will be reached at the end of this month. T-Mobile is thus the fourth largest TV service operator in the Czech Republic. “We are happy that we have succeeded in attracting more and more customers,” says Juraj Bóna, T-Mobile Chief Country Officer for the Czech Republic, adding: “Customers appreciate our offer of channels whether in the form of top-level European football on the channels Digi Sport 1 and 2 or BBC Earth HD with Czech localisation, as well as other useful features, such as time-shifting by up to seven days, thanks to which the TV service can be adapted to their needs to the maximum extent.“

As T-Mobile provides its TV services via the internet and satellite, its customers do not have to deal with the shutdown of the DVB-T signal and switching to DVB-T2, which is now an issue for users of digital terrestrial television technology. Unlike them, they are not being forced to replace their set-top boxes or televisions.

Guessing competition to win a Sony smart television and more

The 111,111th subscriber of the TV service will receive a Sony Bravia KDL-50WF665 television, a free TV service subscription for 24 months and a gift pack from T-Mobile. In addition, the operator has prepared a competition on the T-Mobile CZ Facebook page that involves guessing exactly when the 111,111th T-Mobile TV account will be activated. The contestant whose guess is the closest to the correct answer will also receive a Sony Bravia KDL-50WF665 television and a gift pack from T-Mobile. Ten additional gift baskets will be given to ten other contestants whose guesses are the closest to the correct answer, as well as prizes donated by HBO, which has been with T-Mobile TV since the beginning and decided to take part in the celebrations too. Winners can look forward to Sony MDR-ZX110AP headphones and Sony SRS-XB01 portable speakers.

For exactly one month starting today, i.e. until 13 July, customers can take advantage of a 50% discount for the first three months following activation of the T-Mobile TV service. Customers must activate the service via the e-shop and enter the discount code which they will find in the banners on the operator’s website.

T-Mobile TV customers in figures

Customers can currently watch up to 151 channels via the internet and up to 109 channels via satellite. An ordinary viewer switches on T-Mobile TV ten times in a week on average and spends more than 470 minutes watching it per week. T-Mobile TV customers watch programmes most often on televisions (83%), though notebooks are becoming more and more popular (13%). The remaining 4% comprises smartphone users. The most widely used and appreciated function of the TV service from T-Mobile continues to be the time-shifting feature: customers watch more than three million programmes using this feature every month. Customers can easily pause their favourite programmes, rewind them and watch them up to seven days after their original air time.
