CETIN, T-Mobile and Vodafone have signed a contract with the Prague Public Transit Company regarding the installation of radiating telecommunication cables to cover Prague’s extended A metro line with signal. The contract is for six years, whereas the mobile network signal for voice and high-speed internet (3G and LTE) services will be available for customers of all mobile operators, including O2 and virtual operators.
This step will be followed by ordering the radiating cable. Construction works and cable installation will be performed in phases and during night hours when the metro is closed to the public (1:00 to 3:00 a.m.). It is expected that the first part to be covered will be the tunnel between the Motol and Petřiny stations. The total distance between the four new stations where the cable will be installed in both directions is 11.6 km.
All three companies bear an equal share of the costs of this project. The costs of covering the metro stations and the tunnels amounts to CZK 12 million and CZK 18 million, respectively. Extension of the BTS technology at the Na Bojišti site will then cost another CZK 5 million.
