T-Mobile will allow easy transfer of eSIM to another phone

eSIM transfer 1.jpg

The eSIM (embedded SIM) format is currently used by about 3% of T-Mobile customers, and this share is slowly growing. That is why the operator will allow eSIM transfer, which will facilitate and speed up the transfer of (e)SIM to a new phone. This transfer omits the previously necessary generation of an activation QR code in the store or in the customer zone of the My T-Mobile application. Both the phone number and the active plan remain preserved by the eSIM transfer.

The transfer can be started on the target phone in the Settings section. Customers can also transfer a physical SIM card from the original phone, which is always transferred to the second (target) phone as an eSIM. The transfer can also be made during the initial setup of the phone when it is first activated

For the transfer to be successful, the devices must be with each other and connected to the Internet (ideally a Wi-Fi network). The source phone must have an active security feature in the form of a display lock. The customer will receive confirmation of the successful eSIM transfer in the form of a notification.

Hardware requirements for eSIM transfer:

·       Both source and destination phones support eSIM transfer

·       Android OS (at least version 15 for the target one; the availability of the feature may vary by manufacturer and model and can be checked in the phone menu; newly launched smartphones will get support for eSIM transfer to the beginning)
