New mobile data offerings

  • New tariff add-ons for different user categories
  • Simplified basic price list, new tariff names
  • Mobile e-mail for as little as 10 hellers

Prague, 28 July 2005 - Starting in September 2005, T-Mobile will introduce changes concerning data tariffs. The billing of the services will be simpler, distinguishing only whether the customer uses mobile data for access to the internet or WAP. T-Mobile is also starting to offer three new types of tariff add-ons for particularly active users of T-Mobile's GPRS and EDGE services. Those who decide to use those add-ons can significantly reduce their data traffic costs. Customers who are using the existing data tariffs will be automatically transferred to the new tariff structure.

Basic Price List for T-Mobile GPRS/EDGE Services
Billing of the services will be simplified, the price for a kB transferred being CZK 0.06 in the case of internet connection and CZK 0.50 in the case of WAP connection (+ 19% VAT). The basic billing unit is 5 kB. The billing system applies to connection via both GPRS and EDGE.

Tariff add-ons
Frequent GPRS and EDGE users can choose from several tariff add-ons - depending on how they use their mobile connection. Tariff add-ons can be activated via the My T-Mobile service or at the Customer Centre on 4603.

1. WAP tariff add-on
For a monthly fee of as little as CZK 99 (117.81 incl. VAT), customers will get one megabyte of transferred data for access to WAP. This means they can get as much useful information as they like - e.g., get the daily weather forecast, find a suitable transport connection or have a look at the TV or cinema programmes. Or, they can download up to 30 Java games into their mobile phones (paying only the price of the game).

2. Email&PDA tariff add-on
The Email&PDA tariff add-on is intended especially for customers who want to have access to their e-mail at any time, wherever they are. The fee of CZK 199 (CZK 236.81 incl. VAT) includes ten megabytes of free units, which enables the customer to send or receive up to 2,000 average-length text e-mails of 5 kB each. The user will thus pay only 10 hellers per message. This add-on is also suitable for surfing the internet right on the display of more advanced devices such as MDA/PDA and smartphones.

3. Internet+ tariff add-on
This is an add-on for particularly active users - for a monthly fee of CZK 699 (CZK 831.81 incl. VAT) the customer can surf both the internet and WAP without any limitations and at a speed several times higher than that of a traditional dial-up connection via a fixed line. This tariff add-on corresponds to the currently offered GPRS Unlimited tariff.

I am currently using a T-Mobile data tariff  - what will the changes mean for me?
The provision of the existing data add-ons to voice tariffs will be terminated as of 31 August 2005. Customers using a GPRS tariff with a monthly fee will subsequently be automatically transferred to the newly offered tariff add-ons as follows:

- In the case of customers using the GPRS Unlimited tariff, the Internet+ tariff add-on will be activated (the amount of the monthly fee remains unchanged).

- In the case of customers using the GPRS Standard tariff, the Email&PDA tariff add-on will be activated, which offers a double amount of free units for internet connection for the same price of CZK 199 excl. VAT.

- In the case of customers using the GPRS Business tariff, the Email&PDA tariff add-on will be activated, with a lower monthly fee and smaller amount of free units. These customers can consider activation of the Internet+ tariff add-on allowing unlimited connection for a monthly fee.

- As of 1 September 2005, customers with the GPRS WAP tariff will use GPRS and EDGE according to the basic price list. Based on the average amount of downloaded data, these customers can subsequently decide for activation of the WAP add-on, which offers five times as many free units for connection to WAP compared to the existing GPRS WAP tariff.

Upon automatically switching from a GPRS tariff to a new tariff add-on during a billing period, the customer will receive an adequate proportional part of free units within the existing GPRS tariff for the period from the beginning of the billing period to 31 August 2005 and a proportional part of free units from the newly activated tariff add-on for the period from 1 September 2005 to the end of the respective billing period.

Change of the tariff names

Effective as of 1 September 2005, the names of data tariffs will be changed as follows:

Original name New name
Data Unlimited Internet
Data Unlimited Special Internet HIT
Twist Data Unlimited Twist Internet
GPRS Unlimited (add-on to a voice tariff) Internet+
Fair Usage Policy
Starting in October 2005, the Fair Usage Policy ("FUP") with a limit of 2 GB of data transferred monthly will be applied to all unlimited GPRS/EDGE tariffs. After exceeding this volume of data transferred during one billing period, the transfer speed will be reduced to 32 kbps. The full transfer speed will be renewed at the beginning of the following billing period. The FUP will be applied to the Internet+ tariff add-on and to the Internet, Internet HIT and Twist Internet tariffs.

T-Mobile GPRS and EDGE
enable mobile connection to the internet and WAP. They differ in the connection speed and accessibility within the GSM network.
EDGE provides connection at a speed of up to 236 kbps, i.e., up to 5 times faster compared to the connection via a fixed telephone line (the usual speed ranging between 150 and 220 kbps). It can be used in more than 30 cities and towns within the territory of the Czech Republic and its accessibility is further increasing. Information on the current coverage can be found at http://t-mobile.cz/edge. You can also ask for information on coverage at a given location by sending a SMS with the text  EDGE to 4616 (the SMS is charged as a standard SMS; the reply is free of charge). A phone supporting EDGE is necessary for the use of the service.
GPRS provides connection at a speed of up to 85.6 kbps and is available at all locations that are covered by our GSM network signal.
Every mobile device automatically switches between GPRS and EDGE depending on the accessibility of EDGE at the given location.
