T-Mobile has already paid nearly CZK 700,000 to “debuggers”

Bug Bounty after two months: dozens of weak points, CZK 700,000 in rewards distributed
The contest has been very beneficial and will be continued
The most successful participants can receive rewards beyond the set limit

Participants in the Bug Bounty contest, which was opened by T-Mobile on 10 February 2015, have so far helped identify dozens of weak points on the portals at www.t-mobile.cz and muj.t mobile.cz. The operator has distributed among the debuggers rewards in the total amount of approximately CZK 700,000. T-Mobile considers the contest to be very helpful.

“We very much appreciate the fruitful cooperation with experts from among the general public who helped us enhance the security features of our portals within the Bug Bounty contest, which we are continuing to improve further,” says Vladimír Klein, Technology Director at T-Mobile, adding: “We have also received very positive feedback from the participants and therefore we will certainly continue the contest.”

Several of the most successful debuggers who have already received the maximum reward of CZK 80,000 will be given an opportunity to participate in the search for weak points in other portals. They will be subject to the same rules as new participants, i.e. each of them could theoretically receive another CZK 80,000 as a reward.

T-Mobile has had a similarly positive experience with the Bug Bounty contest as its parent company, Deutsche Telekom, which originally launched it two years ago. In connection with the contest, Deutsche Telekom has already paid tens of thousands of euros for identifying vulnerabilities and has significantly improved the security of its websites as a result.

Security is one of T-Mobile’s key priorities. In the past three years, the operator has invested more than CZK 50 million to enhance the security features of its portals.
