  • T-Mobile records the highest number of contract customers using the GSM network for the first time in the history of the company
  • 14% revenue increase, 10% EBITDA growth and 22% net profit increase year-on-year
  • Contract customers make up almost 80% of the net customer adds
  • Student Tariff activated by 15 thousand customers since its launch two months ago

Prague, 13 November 2003 - For the first three quarters of this year, T-Mobile Czech Republic, a.s. recorded double-digit growth in all important financial indicators. Compared to the same period last year, total revenues have increased by 14% from CZK 15.7 billion to CZK 17.9 billion. EBITDA increased by 10% year-on-year; while it amounted to CZK 7,6 billion at the end of the third quarter 2002, it reached CZK 8.3 billion for the first three quarters of this year. Net profit rose to CZK 2.9 billion, which is 22% more than as of 30 September 2002, when it amounted to CZK 2.4 billion. (The financial results were prepared in accordance with German GAAP).

"These results clearly indicate that our company, in spite of the tough competition, succeeds in achieving significant growth. Thanks to Tariff Epidemic, we have become number one in terms of the total number of contract customers for the first time in the history of our company. This success confirms our strategy, which is based on targeted offers for clearly defined user groups," says Roland Mahler, Managing Director of T-Mobile Czech Republic a.s.

For example, the Student Tariff is an extremely popular part of the autumn offer - by the end of October this year, it had been activated by 15 thousand customers. New contract customers make up almost 80% of the total net adds. Compared to the same period last year, the total customer base increased by 12% - as of 30 September 2003, T-Mobile Czech Republic a.s. had recorded 3,691,000 customers.

The continuous increase in customer numbers was also positively reflected in the operating results. Usage in the T-Mobile network reached 2,615 million minutes for the first three quarters of this year, up by 15% compared to the same period last year. For the first nine months of 2003, T-Mobile customers sent 1,229 million text messages, which means an increase in the number of SMS sent of 27% year-on-year. There was also dynamic growth in the area of data services - there were six times as many GPRS users in the first nine months of this year as in 2002. Value added services were also very popular - for example, in the first three quarters of this year, the number of downloaded Java games was twelve times greater than that of a year ago.
