The operator’s LTE network consists of approximately 3,700 transmitters, 200 of which were built last year
The fastest mobile internet covers 2,300 communities, including all regional capitals
The signal is also available on motorways and at lakes and mountain resorts
Prague, 7 January 2015 – In 2015, T-Mobile significantly expanded LTE coverage in the Czech Republic – at the end of the year, the fastest mobile internet was available to 82% of the country’s population. The combined 3G and LTE network coverage was even larger, reaching 96% of the population. The operator’s LTE network covers, among other areas, 2,300 communities, including all regional capitals, major motorways and expressways and a number of large lakes and winter resorts.
“Thanks to the massive rollout, our LTE network grew last year by more than 2,000 transmitters to the total number of approximately 3,700,” says Vladimír Klein, T-Mobile’s Technology Director, adding: “We are planning to expand LTE coverage to nearly the entire population of the Czech Republic by the end of 2016.”
T-Mobile covers all regional capitals and approximately 2,300 other communities. LTE was a “Christmas present” for customers in, for example, Olomouc, Ostrava, Liberec, České Budějovice, Hradec Králové, Zlín, Kladno, Jablonec nad Nisou, Třinec, Trutnov, Vsetín, Jindřichův Hradec, Náchod and Louny.
At the end of the year, the LTE signal had been extended also to mountain resorts in the Krkonoše (Špindlerův Mlýn, Pec pod Sněžkou, Benecko, Herlíkovice, Janské Lázně, Rokytnice nad Jizerou), Krušné hory (Klínovec, Klíny, Boží Dar), Šumava (Lipno, Špičák) and several other locations (e.g. Kouty nad Desnou, Monínec, Kunčice). In summer, visitors at large reservoirs and lakes could enjoy a fast mobile internet experience as LTE became available at the Brno, Dalešice, Hracholusky, Jesenice, Lhota, Lipno, Nové Mlýny, Orlík, Rozkoš, Seč and Slapy reservoirs and Lake Mácha.
Since the end of 2015, the operator’s fastest mobile internet service is also available on most major motorways and expressways. LTE in-car signal now covers more than 90% of the D1, D2, D3, D5 and D11 motorways and the R1, R10, R4, R46, R52, R55, R6 and R7 expressways, and more than 80% of the R35 and R48 expressways.
