Get a new phone now, return your old one within 5 days and receive an extra CZK 1,000 bonus in September. T-Mobile expands its trade-in programme to stores across the Czech Republic

The trade-in service follows a successful pilot programme launched in June this year. During the pilot, more than a thousand customers traded in their phones at twenty selected T-Mobile stores. Most often, they opted for a higher model series than their current device. "The pilot confirmed that allowing customers to use the value of their existing device and combining with available discounts can help customers afford the phone they really want. Our internal data also shows that customers value the simplicity of the whole process most – they can take their new phone with them straight away and still have a few days to transfer their data from the old one," says Petar Babić, Chief Commercial Officer for B2C at T-Mobile Czech Republic.

The value of the current device is determined through technical and visual diagnostics in the Cashtec application provided by Mobil Pohotovost. The estimated value is transparently available on the operator's e-shop, allowing customers to check the price in advance from the comfort of their home. The trade-in itself is completed in store, and the resulting amount is immediately applied as a discount on the purchase price of the new device, together with the CZK 1,000 bonus from the operator. Customers can also use a tariff-based subsidy in the form of a conditional discount.

Customers leave the store with their new phone right away, while keeping their old device for up to five working days to transfer their data. Once the transfer is complete, they can simply return the device at any T-Mobile store, send it free of charge by courier, or drop it off at a Zásilkovna collection point. For this purpose, they will also receive a special return box in store.

For selected smartphone models, customers can also reduce the purchase price further thanks to an additional manufacturer trade-in bonus. This currently applies, for example, to the following models:

The phone buy-back service supports more responsible handling of electronics. After professional inspection and refurbishment, traded-in devices can be used by other users. Fully retired mobile phones can still be handed in at any T-Mobile store using dedicated collection boxes. Selected devices will also support a good cause: in cooperation with Remobil, CZK 10 from each device will be donated to support the activities and operation of non-profit organisations, in September it is the Centrum Elpida which focuses on educationa programmes for seniors. T-Mobile is thus further expanding the opportunities to extend the life cycle of mobile devices and help reduce electronic waste.
