T-Mobile IoT sensors in the Jizera Mountains are switching to summer mode. It will serve visitors and athletes

T-Mobile is converting the IoT (Internet of Things) sensors deployed during this year's Jizerská 50 into summer mode. Data from sensors that helped monitor snow conditions on the track during the race will provide useful information to visitors to the mountains and athletes in the summer months.

Some of the devices that measured snow temperature in winter, for example, will be used to monitor the water temperature in retention tanks during the summer. The first sensor was installed in the Dolina retention tank. Together with other sensors and weather stations, they will also provide data on air temperature and humidity at more than ten locations in the Jizera Mountains, and their use will continue in the following periods.

"What is important to us about this project is that the benefits of IoT technology do not end with one race or one season. We want these solutions to bring concrete and understandable data with practical use in everyday life – whether for athletes, hikers or other visitors to the mountains. This is where I see the real potential of the Internet of Things," says Jiří Knop, expert on IoT solutions at T-Mobile.

The data remains publicly available and users can find them clearly displayed in a special web dashboard, which is newly adapted for summer use. The information is continuously updated at regular intervals.

An overview of the current conditions can be useful, for example, for visitors to the Jizera Mountains, cyclists or even for runners who are preparing for events around the Jizerska magistrála in the summer.
