Prague, 9 October 2008 - On Friday, 10 October at 5:00 p.m., the Louny Municipal Library will host a release ceremony for a new book - "Louny Tales and Legends" (Lounské příběhy a pověsti) - that has been compiled by the Knihovna třetího tisíciletí civic association. In December, the association plans to publish the third volume of "The Louny Residents' Anthology". Like the previous volumes, the third volume will contain the winning works submitted for the annual competition of amateur writers. Both publications have been prepared with the help of financial contributions from the T-Mobile Fund.

"The Knihovna třetího tisíciletí civic association fosters people's respect for literature. The association is able to make art enjoyable and to help others find the artistic value in fun activities," says Martina Kemrová, Senior Head of Corporate Communication at T-Mobile, adding: "This is why we have been collaborating with the association for several years already, providing financial support to its projects from the T-Mobile Fund."

It took almost one year to prepare "Louny Tales and Legends". This book contains 45 local legends retold by Květa Marešová and illustrated by Jitka Andrlová. "This publication has been awaited with excitement. No one has ever written a similar book on the Louny region. I believe that it will captivate and entertain a much wider public than just readers from Louny," says Dagmar Bahnerová, director of the Louny Municipal Library and president of the civic association. In addition to other respectable guests, the release ceremony will also be attended by the mayor of Louny, members of the town council, patrons and, naturally, both authors. One thousand copies of the book will be printed.

"The Louny Residents' Anthology", which is scheduled to appear in December in print-run of 300 copies, will contain the best stories selected from among more than twenty works submitted for the local amateur literary competition. This year's topic was "journeys". "The jury evaluated works by 16 authors and we must say that its job is becoming increasingly difficult every year as the authors are becoming more and more mature," says D. Bahnerová. The jury finally selected the winning works - "Swift's Travels" (Rorejsovy cesty), a story by a young attorney based in Louny, Karel David, and "Journey to the North" (Cesta na sever), a work by Lukáš Filip. The anthology is illustrated with charming drawings by children from the Municipal Library's art studio headed by Jitka Andrlová.

Both books will be produced by the civic association's traditional partner, the Koniáš publishing house in Plzeň. In addition to the T-Mobile Fund, which contributed CZK 50,000 for preparation of both publications, financial contributions were also provided by the town of Louny, the Louny Municipal Library and private donors.

This is the fourth year that various projects have received financial contributions from the T-Mobile Fund. Funding set aside for the Louny region is managed by the Community Foundation of Euroregion Labe, which selected 36 projects from among 111 applications for grants that were filed this year. These projects will be granted financial contributions totaling CZK 2 million.
