Jizerská 50 combines sport, technology and amazing experiences of different generations. This year's edition was no exception and attracted a record 9,821 competitors – 17% more than last year. The popular T-Mobile corporate relay was run by 73 teams, i.e. a total of 292 cross-country skiers, and many of them were also on the training Magenta track. The event was also attended by foreign visitors – according to the operator, most often from Germany, Poland and Slovakia.
"We perceive the Jizerská 50 as a sporting and community phenomenon and we are pleased that together with sT-Mobile and other partners, we are able to maintain and move forward the tradition. And it is far from just the main race, which was attended by thousands of competitors from 29 countries around the world. The real heart of this multi-day event is a combination of elite racers, recreational cross-country skiers and enthusiasts. For many of them, the race does not end with the finish line, but with a strong personal experience," says Richard Valoušek, Director of Communications at the Raul agency, which is in charge of Jizerská 50 communication
"While thousands of people were preparing for the start of the race, our team ensured connectivity and maximum comfort for all visitors, as every year. This year, we have also deployed IoT sensors and two weather stations that constantly monitor snow conditions, air temperature and humidity or wind speed in real time on site. The great news is that the sensors will serve athletes with data not only throughout the winter, but also in the summer, so they will be enjoyed by tourists and cyclists alike," says Petar Babić, Chief Commercial Officer for the residential segment at T-Mobile.
There was no shortage of experiences on site. Despite the freezing weather, thousands of visitors had their names and final time photographed in the T-Mobile festival zone in the Jizerská 50 visual. Last year, for the first time, participants received a reusable magenta bag, a so-called dry bag, for their personal belongings and for use in other sports activities. This prevented unnecessary plastic waste from single-use bags. This year, when participating repeatedly, the competitors either brought last year's dry bag or bought a new one for CZK 200. The proceeds, a total of CZK 37,400, will then go to support the Society for the Jizera Mountains.
As at other sports and cultural events, there was also a collection of used smartphones in cooperation with the Remobil organization – which the operator supported with a competition for valuable prizes. At Jizerská 50 alone, 364 phones were collected – 38% more than last year.
