By the end of 1998, the Paegas GSM network operated by RadioMobil provided coverage to 96 percent of the population of the Czech Republic. "RadioMobil is continuing the quick expansion of its Paegas GSM network, whose services were used by more than 373,000 customers at the end of 1998," said RadioMobil press spokeswoman Tereza Kakosová.
In the last quarter of 1998 the network of RadioMobil BTS transmission stations grew by an additional 15 percent. "Just like in the third quarter of last year, the number of BTS stations increased in the last quarter, and that growth was even more pronounced in cities," said Kakosová, who added that, "RadioMobil is also planning to begin making use of frequencies in the 1800 MHz spectrum soon." The number of transmission stations operated by RadioMobil increased by nearly 40 percent in the second half of 1998 and, in the same half-year, more than doubled in Prague!
Investment in infrastructure to date amounts to more than 8 billion Kč, with millions more allocated to advancing the information technology which allows RadioMobil to continue offering progressive services.
