- RadioMobil hosts prominent dignitaries of political and business life in Pragues Rudolfinum
- Prague is the symbol of the fall of the Iron Curtain in Europe
Prague has become the center for the celebrations of the 10th anniversary of the fall of the Iron Curtain. On November 18th, RadioMobil, the operator of a GSM Paegas mobile phone network, will host prominent world dignitaries at a concert in Pragues Rudolfinum. The official opening will feature Beethovens Ode to Joy, presented by the Czech Philharmonic and conducted by Vladimír Ashkenazy. Among those attending the concert will be Václav Havel, George Bush, Mikhail Gorbachev, Helmut Kohl, Danielle Mitterrand, Margaret Thatcher and Lech Walesa, as well as representatives of the business world - members of the boards of directors of the worlds most important companies.
"Were very thankful that we can be partners in the celebration of this turning point in the history of Europe", said Tereza Kakosová, the spokeswoman for RadioMobil, on this occasion. "Prague has become the symbol of the fall of the Iron Curtain in Europe, and its the only city where the most prominent world dignitaries closely connected with the events ten years ago have come to celebrate the end of the communist regime".
The events of 1989 have become the key element for the entry of international companies on the Czech market. "For most people, telecommunications and information technologies have become a symbol of modern times and a signal of the development of our information society in the next millenium," added Kakosová.
The concert in the Rudolfinum will be the symbolic peak of a discussion forum that takes place on the same day in the Spanish Hall of Prague Castle. Both events rank among the most important events of a project called "10 years later - on the verge of a new millenium", which Association 89 has organized under the auspices of RadioMobil between November 16th - 20th, 1999.
The joint-stock company RadioMobil is a GSM operator of the Paegas network. Today, the GSM Paegas network covers over 97 % of the Czech population. Clients can take their GSM Paegas mobile telephone to 75 countries worldwide and use roaming services with 155 operators. More than 700,000 clients were using GSM Paegas network services as of the end of October.
