"The total number of mobile telephone users in the Czech Republic now exceeds 1,300,000, and market penetration is approaching 13%. I am very pleased to be able to confirm that the biggest share of the growth in the Czech market has been enjoyed by the Paegas GSM network. The Paegas network has experienced growth of 49% compared with the two competitor networks growth of only 28%," said Klaus Tebbe, Managing Director of RadioMobil. Since the beginning of this year, 345,000 people have purchased mobile telephones. Given the choice of the three networks on the market (including the first generation NMT analogue network), 182,000 of the new mobile telephone users chose Paegas services. "In the battle for customers, there has been an unequivocal victory in favour of quality, price, technology, friendly customer service and the widest possible choice," said Klaus Tebbe, explaining the reasoning behind the choices made by customers. From the very beginning, RadioMobil has been committed to offering a wide selection of services and telephones at reasonable prices. Since the end of 1997, the number of users of Paegas services has grown 221 per cent, and during the same period the Czech market as a whole has seen growth of 150 per cent. "During the past two years, RadioMobil has earned more new customers than the two competitor networks put together," said Klaus Tebbe. RadioMobil a.s. is the operator of the GSM network called Paegas. The Paegas GSM network now covers more than 96% of the Czech Republic. As of todays date, customers can take their Paegas GSM mobile telephones to 68 different countries around the world and use roaming services via 137 operators. There are currently more than 555,000 customers of the Paegas GSM network.
