Mobility Week at T-Mobile

T-Mobile is going green this year, so the company joined the international environmental campaign called Mobility Week.
  • Environment-friendly event for employees

Prague, 22 September 2010 - T-Mobile is going green this year, so the company joined the international environmental campaign called Mobility Week. As part of this activity, employees can promote the European Car-Free Day or participate in the Mobility Days, which will take place on Thursday and Friday at T-Mobile's headquarters in Prague.

"Sustainable development and the environment are areas on which we have long been focused," says Jitka Chocová, Head of Corporate Social Responsibility at T-Mobile, adding: "We are now focusing on the possibilities of showing new ecological products from the car industry to all employees of our company."

T-Mobile's employees in Prague who use a company car got free public-transportation tickets as part of the European Car-Free Day, which takes place on 22 September each year. Employees who do not want to use public transportation can travel to work by bike, scooter or on in-line skates. Each T-Mobile employee can thus contribute to reducing the carbon footprint left by personal vehicles. As part of the event, the most economical company driver in 2009, in terms of fuel consumption, was announced based on the data on the certificate of roadworthiness. The winner proved that even drivers in Prague can use less fuel than the average consumption stated in the car's certificate of roadworthiness. In addition, all employees received "the ten commandments" concerning environment-friendly driving.

A special "Mobility Day" programme will be organized in Brno on Thursday and in Prague on Friday. It will offer, among other things, the following:

  • show of hybrid and compressed natural gas (CNG) vehicles
  • environment-friendly and economical driving school conducted by ECODrive
  • rides on electric bikes and scooters
  • Screening of the Auto*Mat documentary by Martin Mareček
  • Presentation of the Partnership Foundation promoting the development of environment-friendly transportation
