Internet Komplet: web browsing on a mobile telephone and a notebook with a single plan

  • Internet v mobilu and Internet na cesty for a single monthly fee with a shared data volume
  • An ideal solution for customers who want to be on-line anywhere and anytime

Prague, 20 October 2011 – T-Mobile is the first operator in the Czech Republic to introduce a single plan for web browsing on mobile telephones and notebooks, netbooks or tablets – Internet Komplet (Internet Complete). For one monthly fee, the plan offers a shared data volume for internet access via handsets and other devices. This is a one-of-a-kind solution for users who want to be on-line anywhere and anytime. When signing a two-year contract, customers will also receive a modem for CZK 1.

“The number of mobile internet users in our network has already exceeded the magic threshold of one million,” says Jiří Hašek, Vice President Category & Product Management at T-Mobile, adding: “However, more and more customers have another device in addition to their mobile telephones via which they want to be on-line all the time. This is why we came up with Internet Komplet.”

An average smart-phone user downloads an average of nearly 80MB of data per month; naturally, with some type of handsets, the “consumption” may be several times higher. Average monthly downloads on tablets are nearly 450MB. To save customers from moving the SIM card from one device to another, T‑Mobile is introducing the Internet Komplet plan. For one monthly fee of CZK 499 incl. VAT, it allows users to browse the web both on a handset and another device (tablet, notebook or netbook). Internet Komplet offers a shared monthly FUP data limit of 3GB, no matter which device customers choose to use it on.

This plan enables users to surf the net simultaneously on both devices. Upon activation, customers will receive a new SIM card for their tablet, for example, and can determine the number of their existing voice SIM card on which they will want to use mobile internet. One monthly fee will thus cover data services on two telephone numbers at the same time. When signing a fixed-term contract, customers wishing to use internet access on their notebook or netbook will be able to purchase a USB modem for CZK 1.

Using mobile internet on a handset naturally is not a condition, but more than one million T-Mobile customers now check the internet directly on their telephones compared to about 800,000 at the beginning of this year. According to the latest figures, the most avid internet users are from Prague (15%), Central Bohemia and Moravia-Silesia (13% in both these regions). Nearly two-thirds of them are regular web surfers, with men slightly outnumbering women (53% vs. 47%). The dominant operating system, Symbian (70%), is followed from a long distance by the fast growing Android and iOS, with Windows and BlackBerry being at the back of the operating systems pack.

Internet Komplet users no longer have to decide which device they want to use for connecting to the internet at a given time, as they can access the internet for one monthly fee from any of their devices at the maximum speed of 3.6Mbps. They can also use the shared FUP limit based on their needs. When using up the FUP limit, they can purchase additional data (1GB for CZK 99 incl. VAT); otherwise, the transmission speed is reduced.
