T-Mobile introduces a new type of SIM card

  • M2M Twist – a prepaid card for M2M applications
  • A special chip SIM card with enhanced shock, damp and heat resistance

Prague, 29 September 2011 – T-Mobile is introducing new services for M2M solutions and enhancing its Partnership Program. Beginning in October, T-Mobile will be the first operator in the Czech Republic to start officially selling a new type of resistant M2M SIM card. It will also expand its portfolio to include a prepaid M2M Twist tariff plan intended for business partners as well as customers, which is suitable for security monitoring of vacation homes, for example.

Compared with the standard card, the new M2M SIM card is significantly smaller. Designed specifically for partnership solutions, it is not suitable for use in telephones. “In addition to its size, the new SIM card is distinguished by greater resistance to external influences, such as crashes, heat, dampness or mechanical stress. It is therefore ideal, for example, for use in cars where it is capable of “surviving” even car crashes,” explains Vít Šoupal, Senior Head of Value Added Services and Partnership Solutions at T‑Mobile.

Another new service is the prepaid M2M Twist tariff plan, which complements the three classic plans M2M Mini, M2M and M2M Premium. The prepaid plan will surely be appreciated (particularly now before winter) by owners of solutions for remote heating control, security monitoring of weekend cottages, vacation homes, as well as pets and cars. For a monthly fee of CZK 29 incl. VAT, customers receive 1MB of free data allowance, three text messages to all networks and three picture messages to T-Mobile numbers.

This Twist card has another useful feature: it can send a text message or e-mail to its owner, informing him or her of low credit or expiry of credit validity. Customers can thus be certain that security monitoring of their vacation homes will never be at risk due to insufficient credit on the SIM card. Moreover, customers can conveniently top up credit on this SIM card from their Statement of Services, as with other prepaid cards.

The T-Mobile Partnership Program was introduced in 2002. More than 50 companies offering more than 100 products and services using T-Mobile's GSM/3G network now participate in the program. The solutions focus on location tracking of persons and animals, security monitoring of buildings and vehicles, mobile and remote data collection, SMS applications, e-health and remote access to offices.
