T-Mobile involved in the creation of the Czech branch of the Global Compact Network

T-Mobile is the first international corporation active in the Czech Republic to adopt the ten fundamental principles of the UN Global Compact on the local level.

Prague, 25 September 2014 – T-Mobile is the first international corporation active in the Czech Republic to adopt the ten fundamental principles of the UN Global Compact on the local level. The task of creating the Czech national network of this global initiative was assigned to Lucie Mádlová, Executive Director of the Association of Social Responsibility, of which T-Mobile has been a member since June this year. Established under the auspices of the UN, Global Compact is the largest social responsibility platform in the world with the objective of developing and supporting universally acceptable practices in the business sphere and sharing international experience.

“Our parent company, Deutsche Telekom, has been a member of the Global Compact initiative for several years. Therefore Czech T-Mobile also fully endorses the principles adopted within this platform,” says Petra Pavičová, T-Mobile’s Social Responsibility Manager, adding: “Our involvement in the establishment of the future Czech branch of this global platform is thus a matter of course and is fully in line with our long-term social responsibility strategy.”

“To set up the Czech Global Compact network, we need to gain a dozen prominent signatories and supporters from among Czech corporations. We very much appreciate that T-Mobile is supporting us in this process and that it became the first of them,” says Lucie Mádlová.

If a sufficient number of organisations pledge their support for the initiative, the Czech Global Compact network will be established in the course of the next year and will bring to the Czech Republic a completely new concept of social responsibility and, above all, extensive international know-how.

Global Compact is a network of businesses and organisations that are committed to aligning their operations and strategies with ten universally accepted principles of social responsibility in the areas of human rights, labour, the environment and anti-corruption efforts. The network currently comprises over 12,000 organizations in more than 145 countries. More information can be found at www.unglobalcompact.org.

The Association of Social Responsibility is a platform that unites, connects and represents the interests of socially responsible entities in the Czech Republic.
