More than 30,000 customers have chosen the EU add-on

  • Tariff clients can choose either the EU or Cestovatel add-on
  • Twist customers can call while abroad for EU prices from 1 August
  • Customers without an add-on will be switched to European prices automatically

Prague, 28 August 2007 - The quick and completely trouble-free establishment of the roaming tariff in accordance with EU rules has been greeted very positively by T-Mobile customers. During the summer holidays, more than 30,000 contract customers chose the EU tariff add-on and could thus enjoy cheap calls when traveling in EU countries. However, there has been no resulting slump in interest in the Cestovatel (Traveler) add-on - more than 20,000 contract customers have used it this summer.

"I am glad that we could offer our customers calls for EU prices as early as in August. The interest shown clearly demonstrates that it was a right and fair decision to offer the add-on during the main tourist season," says Jiří Dvorjančanský, Executive Vice-President Marketing at T-Mobile.

The EU add-on reduces the prices for calls made in any of the 27 EU countries. Customers pay CZK 16.54 per minute incl. VAT for outgoing calls and CZK 8.09 per minute incl. VAT for incoming calls. The prices of other roaming services (SMS, MMS, data transfers, calls outside the EU) are billed according to the basic roaming tariff plan (Happy Roaming).

Those customers that do not use any roaming add-on will have the "Eurotariff" activated automatically, as per an EU regulation; the transfer of users to the new roaming add-on will take place during September.

Twist customers have been calling for European prices since 1 August, without any set-up needed. They are informed of the new billing via SMS as soon as they arrive abroad.

Cestovatel is up and running
The fact that Czech customers appreciate being able to call cheaply while abroad is confirmed by the statistics relating to Cestovatel. With this add-on, tourists outside the Czech Republic receive incoming calls that are on average seven times longer than if they were using the Happy Roaming service. Outgoing calls using the Cestovatel add-on are three times longer on average.

Compared with the EU add-on, Cestovatel also offers lower prices for SMS and data transfers. Thus Cestovatel users needn't worry about the cost of texting abroad. While T-Mobile customers using Happy Roaming send on average 14 text messages from abroad, those using Cestovatel send more than 32 SMS while traveling.
