New data services from T-Mobile: faster and cheaper

  • Up to six months of free internet access
  • Greater availability: further expansion of coverage and increased FUP limits
  • Web and WAP surfing with Twist for CZK 39 per week
  • Pilot ADSL operation

Prague, 20 August 2007 - Before the beginning of the school year, T-Mobile is introducing a number of improvements and add-ons to its data services, including significantly better coverage and usage possibilities. Until 31 October, there is a promo offering up to six months of free internet access. In addition, customers can now enjoy increased FUP limits and get internet access for a weekly fee of only CZK 39 without having to sign a contract. Also, T‑Mobile is now testing ADSL-based services which are to be added to the portfolio of T-Mobile data services. Customers can thus access the internet anywhere they are - on the go, at home or in the office.

New activation: free internet access for up to six months
Until 31 October, customers can take advantage of a special promo event offering free internet access for up to six months. When activating any of the Internet 4G plans based on a two-year contract (this also includes renewing a contract and switching from Twist or from another operator), customers will not have to pay the monthly fee relevant to the selected tariff plan for six months. When signing a one-year contract, the period of free internet access is three months. Consequently, any Internet 4G plan can thus be obtained with a 25% discount. Terminals for internet access start at CZK 1 and the activation fee is just CZK 1.

Expanded coverage, increased FUP limits
The Internet 4G service is intended for everybody who wants high-speed internet access that is not limited to a fixed line and can be easily obtained. This year, T-Mobile has been intensively working on expanding its coverage and has increased the number of its base stations. Over the course of the first eight months of this year, T‑Mobile rolled out one hundred new base stations. Coverage has been extended to new cities, such as Lysá nad Labem, Kuřim, Litvínov, Šlapanice and Rajhrad, and better coverage is now provided in Prague, Ostrava, Opava, Přerov and Hradec Králové. T-Mobile plans to build another 115 base stations by the end of this year. The company's total investment in high-speed internet services will thus be increased by CZK 500 million.

This means that T-Mobile will operate more than 600 base stations and more than 60% of the Czech population will thus be able to use the benefits of high-speed internet access. Internet 4G represents the fastest mobile internet connection in the Czech Republic. The UMTS TDD technology on which this service is based offers transmission speeds of up to 4.5 Mbps and it is the only mobile technology available in the Czech Republic that enables an upload speed of up to 1 Mbps.

Users who download large volumes of data will certainly like the news that as of 20 August 2007 T-Mobile has significantly increased the FUP limits. Internet 4G Basic now offers a FUP limit of 2 GB, while the limit for Internet 4G Standard is 5 GB. Customers who use Internet 4G Premium may download data up to the volume of 10 GB. Upon exceeding the FUP limit, they can continue using the service at a speed limited to 128 kbps (for the Internet 4G Premium plan).

Fast internet in a simple bundle without any contracts
Customers who like to be free from written contracts can purchase prepaid internet access. The bundle including a 4G modem and a SIM card with the Internet Basic plan prepaid for one year costs CZK 5,999. The standard price of a separate 4G modem is CZK 4,499. A separate SIM card with the Internet Basic plan prepaid for one month can be purchased for CZK 475 incl. VAT.

Twist users can now have unlimited internet and WAP access on their mobile phones for a weekly fee of CZK 39
From 28 August, new and existing Twist users will not have to worry about surfing fees. With the new Twist Surf+ bundle, they can get unlimited access to the web and WAP on their mobile phones for a weekly fee of just CZK 39 (incl. VAT).

Twist Surf+ can be used for all web browsers in mobile phones (i.e., not only the web'n'walk light or Opera mini browsers). In addition, the bundle offers unlimited surfing on any WAP pages (not only on t-zones). All customers who activate this service by 31 December of this year can try it out free of charge for two weeks without any further obligation. The Twist Surf+ bundle can be activated on-line via My T-Mobile, by sending a free SMS with TSURF A to 4603 or by calling the T-Mobile Customer Centre on 4603.

ADSL from T-Mobile: pilot operation starts now
T-Mobile customers can enjoy all possibilities of mobile internet access - right on their mobile phones, through a data card when traveling or using a modem at home or in the office. Recently there has been increasing interest particularly among business customers in high-speed fixed-line internet access to connect various systems and applications. Therefore, T‑Mobile has decided to add ADSL‑based services to its portfolio of services. These are offered in cooperation with selected providers of this technology. The pilot ADSL operation, the aim of which is to verify the technical possibilities of such cooperation, was started on 20 August 2007. The commercial launch is planned for the end of this year.
