Perspectives Awards - Results

Prague, 3 May 2005 - The fact that there are a number of young talented artists engaged in freestyle graphic art was confirmed in the first annual of Perspectives, T-Mobile's award for young artists. There were 238 works submitted by 124 artists by the deadline of 30 April. The competition for young artists up to thirty years of age was announced on 8 March. Submitted works were to be created using a freestyle graphic technique.

The decision on the award was taken by an independent jury composed of experts on graphic arts. Its president was Joska Skalník who was also the patron of the project. Other experts to evaluate the works were, for example, the graphic artist Oldřich Kulhánek, Simona Hošková, art historian and director of Central Bohemia Gallery and Publishing, and Jiří Brázda, academic painter and graphic artist, who represented the Hollar - Association of Czech Graphic Artists.

The jury decided as follows:

  • 1st  place - Jitka Chrištofová: Symbiomorf, aquatint, 2005 (Academy of Fine Arts in Prague)
  • 2nd place - Sylvie Kořánková: Jealous, silk-screen printing, 2004 (Academy of Arts, Architecture and Design in Prague)
  • 3rd place - Petra Krupíková: Without name, linocut, 2004 (Institute for Artistic Studies of the University of Ostrava)
  • Honorable mention - Pavel Kučera for his work entitled Solitude, linocut, 2005 (Art College and Secondary Graphic Art School in Prague 1)

The winning works will be publicly exhibited in the Chodovská tvrz gallery in Prague 11 from 3 to 29 May 2005. Selected pictures will also liven up T-Mobile's office buildings in Prague, Hradec Králové and Louny.
