T-Mobile adds DHL to its business customer base

  • Communication between couriers and the central office takes place via GPRS
  • The solution from T-Mobile brings 25% cost savings

Prague, 26 January 2004 - At the end of last year, T-Mobile entered into a contract for the delivery of mobile communication services with DHL, a leading provider of express and logistics services. DHL is using the services of the Virtual Private Network which, along with T-Mobile Direct, results in significant cost savings on internal communication. In addition, couriers can be kept informed of new pick-up and delivery orders through GPRS thanks to a unique solution. This is the first time GPRS is used to transfer data among DHL couriers worldwide.

Vlastimil Ráb, IT Director of DHL, explains why the company selected T-Mobile as the winner of the tender: "T-Mobile won the mobile communications tender because it met all DHL's requirements for the provision of these services while offering the most favourable price tariffs compared to the other participants."

With T-Mobile Direct, calls can be made to mobile and fixed networks just at a favourable monthly fee. At the same time, the service provides a fast, secure and affordable internet connection and data transfer via GPRS. "Data transfers are extremely important for couriers. Communication via GPRS also significantly reduces the costs and therefore the client is considering extending the service for all locations," Miroslav Rakowski, Executive Vice President Sales of T-Mobile expands on the advantages of this solution.
