T-Mobile customers can also shop on the Internet and WAP

  • T-Mobile enables paying for various goods and services offered by third parties
  • m-payment becomes a universal payment tool for customers
  • Easy and comfortable use, speed and safety - these are the main attributes of the m-payment service

Prague, 12 May 2003 - Another extension of mobile payments, the m-payment service, was introduced today by T-Mobile. It will be possible to pay via mobile phone for goods and services offered by retailers on the Internet and WAP. All T-Mobile customers can try out this method of cashless payment as of today within the pilot operation.

"Our customers enjoy the m-payment service in particular for its easy and comfortable use and speed, either when purchasing beverages from Coca-Cola vending machines or washing their cars at Aral petrol stations. Therefore, we hope that they will welcome other purchase possibilities via mobile phone," Jiří Hájek, the spokesman for T-Mobile, says and adds: "Our offer is currently without parallel in the Czech market. The range of goods and services for which customers can pay via m-payment will grow naturally. Within 1 year, we would like to cover the widest possible section of retailers."

Description of the service
The service is intended for all current and new T-Mobile customers. To be able to use it, users have only to register on the t-zones portal and activate the Internet/WAP m-payment service. The activation can be done free of charge on www.t-mobile.cz in the section Profile / Settings / m-payment, by calling the T-Mobile infoline via the automatic voice system, or by calling an operator at 4603. Users can also set up a daily limit.

The purchase of goods or services from retailers on the Internet and WAP is itself very easy. On the retailer's web or wap page, customers choose to pay via T-Mobile m-payment. Thereafter, they will be transferred to a payment gate where they log in their user's name and password which they use in t-zones. After logging into the payment gate, customers will be called upon to confirm the payment for the ordered goods, based on a provided summary about the retailer and the ordered goods or services. Customers will be informed of the results of the payment in a window of the Internet or WAP browser and via SMS confirmation; then they will be transferred back to the retailer's pages.

In the case of the m-payment service, reservation and payment are realized simultaneously which ensures that the whole transaction is realized in real-time. Users do not have to remember or write anything down, for the identification number of the payment as the only transaction identifier, will be delivered to them in SMS. When using m-payment, customers do not pay any additional fees; goods or services are provided for the same price which they would pay in the case of other cash or cashless methods of payment.

Billing
The tariff customers will be charged the amount paid for the ordered goods or services in the regular T-Mobile statement of services. As for the Twist users, the appropriate amount will be deducted from their credit.

Test run
You can already try out the m-payment service now - on the web page of the company Cenega: www.rd2.cz – Red Dragon server. And other partners will participate in the pilot operation, namely Annonce, providing advertisement services on www.annonce.cz, www.autohandl.cz, www.nemostranky.cz, and also the server www.leo.cz operated by the company PK62.
