T- Mobile Czech Republic signs 100-million-euro deal with T-Systems Czech

  • T-Systems becomes No. 1 within ICT Services providers in Czech Republic

Prague, February 4, 2005. - Today the companies T-Mobile Czech Republic a.s. and T-Systems Czech s.r.o. signed a contract for the outsourcing of the administration of information technology (IT) operations. Beginning March 1, 2005 T-Systems Czech will take over the central administration of the operation of 600 servers and 4,000 end-stations in 5 localities within the entire area of the Czech Republic. The contract amounting to 3 billion CZK was signed for a seven-year term.

T-Systems Czech will take over the administration of the operation of the entire IT infrastructure for T-Mobile Czech Republic. "Our cooperation with T-Mobile Czech Republic is the largest contract that has ever been concluded so far in this sector in the Czech Republic. It is even of greater importance that it is for IT outsourcing," said Jiri Krejci, CEO of T-Systems Czech. "The result creates unique conditions for our company to realise similar projects in the future, within the Czech Republic as well as abroad," Krejci added.

According to surveys made among companies in the Czech Repubic, cost savings present the predominant reason of the decisions to use outsourcing. Therefore the question whether this reason was also impor-tant for T-Mobile Czech Republic is apparent. "The lowering of IT opera-tion costs was a significant reason during our decision-making, but it cer-tainly was not the only one. Our partner persuaded us about the overall profits, not only about significant savings, but mainly about the possibili-ties of further improvement of our current capacities," said Roland Mahler, General Manager of T-Mobile Czech Republic.
