  • Information of the T-Mobile network usage in the past 24 hours

Prague, 15 August 2002 â?" The T-Mobile network experienced no significant outages in the past 24 hours. As in previous days, the number of phone calls and SMS has increased compared to the usual weekday level.

In Central and Northern Bohemia, network usage has increased today and network capacity has been continuously increased. The greatest possible number of diesel generators has been moved from the regions from which the flood wave has already withdrawn to the above-mentioned regions. In Northern Bohemia alone, 16 base transceiver stations (BTS) are supplied by these generators and ten generators are prepared in case they will be needed.

A new mobile BTS has been put into service in Vítkov district of Prague. The BTS supports mobile communication mostly in central neighbourhoods, which are flooded. It also covers the area of Karlín. 28 diesel generators are now situated in various parts of Prague.

Within the cooperation with the Municipality of Prague, yesterday and today, T-Mobile sent its customers more than 750,000 SMS messages including information on the crisis lines in the capital city and information for evacuated Prague citizens. Today, SMS messages with important information on the crisis lines will be also received by customers in Ústí nad Labem.

â?śSMS messages appear to be an effective means of communication in emergency situations, thanks to the possibility of sending them only to a certain areaâ?ť, says RadioMobil spokesman, JiĹ?í Hájek.
