T-Mobile presents its own printed gaming magazine, FRAG

  • The new magazine provides reviews of mobile phone games, hot news, information on curiosities from the world of mobile entertainment, overviews of the most popular games and competitions for attractive prizes.

Prague, 2 October 2007 - It has been a long time since mobile phones were used only for calling and texting. For quite a few years, they have also enabled gaming, the popularity of which is rising together with their rapid development. Hundreds of games in diverse genres are now available, ranging from sports and simulations to sophisticated strategy games and adventurous RPGs. T-Mobile now provides fans of mobile entertainment with a useful tool for finding their way through the current offer: FRAG, T-Mobile's own printed gaming magazine.

FRAG is a full-featured magazine that provides a lot hot news, information on curiosities from the world of mobile entertainment, competitions for attractive prizes, overviews of the most popular games and many other items of interest. The core FRAG consists of reviews written by experienced gaming reviewers such as Jan Eisler (ICE), Mikoláš Tuček (a.k.a. Tukan) and Lukáš Bašta.

The main blockbusters featured in the first issue undoubtedly include games developed by EA Mobile: first of all Burnout, whose motif dominates the cover of the issue. The hot new games include Might and Magic 2 by Gameloft and Juiced 2 by THQ Wireless. FRAG brings the first ever reviews of these exciting new games. And the issue also includes a review of the older game Galaxy on Fire 3D, an space simulator providing dozens of hours of outstanding entertainment. This gaming gem received the highest rating in the premiere issue of the magazine. Readers can also look forward to a competition for valuable prizes such as an Xbox 360 or Nintendo Wii gaming console, or an electric guitar of the type featured in the above-mentioned Burnout game.

The printed form of the magazine was not selected randomly; it has been estimated that paper is still an important medium in the gaming area. A survey conducted by T­Mobile shows that approximately 54 percent of users prefer acquiring information on the latest game releases from reviews published in printed media. T-Mobile offers its FRAG magazine to its customers free of charge. The first issue is available at all T-Mobile Shops, partner shops and dealer shops from 1 October. Why 'FRAG'?
The title of the magazine was chosen with the target group in. "Frag" is a term used in computer and video games for points received for hitting an enemy. The more frags a player has, the higher the chances of winning.

Selected authors
In the past, Jan Eisler managed to gain wide publicity for Score magazine. His witty reviews, which were noteworthy for there humor from beginning to end, are quite unforgettable. Many readers were disappointed when he later quit journalism and focused his efforts on a different, though entertainment-related field. He is now returning to print journalism in the pages of FRAG.

Mikoláš Tuček is one of the leading Czech game reviewers. Since he began reviewing PC games, he has been closely connected with Score magazine, of which he is currently the editor-in-chief. Many gaming fans enjoy reading his pertinent reviews.
