T-Mobile's Management helps the shelter for injured animals

  • The voluntary One Day for People in Need project has been ongoing at T-Mobile since 2005
  • Over the course of three years, more than 700 employees have participated in the project

Prague, 10 April 2008 - T-Mobile's top management decided to set an example by supporting the voluntary One Day for People in Need project. During their most recent off-site meeting held at the beginning of March, they did not hesitate to don work clothes and paint the shelter for injured wild animals in Krkonoše National Park.

"It is one of our most successful projects in that it allows everybody who is interested to help where it is needed," says Jitka Chocová, CSR Manager at T-Mobile.

All seven members of T-Mobile's top management, including Managing Director Roland Mahler, got down to work and painted the offices and premises of the animal shelter and the gene-pool conservation area, where the focus is placed on preserving the diversity of plant life found in Krkonoše National Park.

In addition to painting, Executive Vice President Marketing Petr Dvořák met with the Krkonoše National Park representative responsible for promotion to discuss the park's marketing strategy and its possible improvements.

The One Day for People in Need project was launched at T-Mobile in 2005. As part of this project, T-Mobile employees may get one day of paid leave and spend it helping those in need or volunteering in community activities. During the project's first year, which was designated as "test run", more than 100 employees joined this project. A year later, 260 employees took part and last year more than 300 employees were involved in the project. The total number of employees volunteering thus exceeded 700.

Also, the number of organizations that T-Mobile employees can help is increasing. For example, employees helped with the preparation of a children's summer camp, assisted during an all-day tournament in the Social Care Centre in Tuchořice, participated in the organization of a fair called "Jarmark pro šikovné ručičky" (Skills Fair), which is held by the children's homes from around the country, helped clean the Šárecké and Dalejské valleys and helped with the clean-up of the abandoned quarry in Brno-Hády.
