T-Mobile to carefully reconsider its participation in the new music venue project

  • The intention of the project is not to negatively interfere in the lives of inhabitants in Prague â?" Chodov
  • T-Mobile called upon the Interkoncerts agency to perform in-depth analyses

Prague 11 March 2004 - The effort to give inhabitants and visitors of Prague a respectable music venue was the main reason for T-Mobile's participation in the T-Mobile Park project. After it came out that some steps taken by the organizer and investor of the project, the Interkoncerts agency, had not been discussed with the Prague 11 local authorities, T-Mobile decided that it would condition its further participation therein by the quick fulfillment of all steps required by law on the part of the Interkoncerts agency.

"The project of the Interkoncerts agency promises to build a music venue that would replace the Letná site which is inconvenient in many respects. However, we do not want the negative aspects and problems that have accompanied concerts held in Letná to be transferred to Prague 11," says Aleš Janků, Vice President Corporate Affairs of T-Mobile.

T-Mobile decided to co-operate in this project based on its heretofore good experience with the Interkoncerts agency, in particular, last year's Rolling Stones concert, and it decided to lend its name to this site. A contract that would define the scope of co-operation has not yet been signed, nor has any related financial transaction been performed. T-Mobile has asked the Interkoncerts agency to carry out an in-depth analysis of construction, traffic, security, sanitary and other risks and analysis of the perception of the project by inhabitants living in the surroundings of the planned music venue, as well as that of potential visitors. T-Mobile will decide on its further participation in this project when all the above facts are made clear and when a common agreement is reached between the organizer, local inhabitants and the local authorities.

"In April, T-Mobile will open its new headquarters building in Prague 11. The establishment and maintenance of good relations with the local community and co-operation with the inhabitants of this city district is clearly in the forefront of our interests. We think that the possibility of seeing the greatest pop music stars in Prague is worth making all possible efforts to resolve the existing problems together. We are prepared, if the Prague 11 local authorities are interested, to play a more active role in mediating further negotiations with the Interkoncerts agency," adds Aleš Janků.
