t-music welcomes students back to school

  • Free admission to concerts
  • Gigs played by top Czech bands
  • Concerts in six university cities

Prague, 6 September 2011 – T-Mobile has prepared an open-air concert tour for students called t-music Back to School. The event, which starts on 22 September in Plzeň and ends on 11 October in Hradec Králové, should become a traditional student gathering at the beginning of the academic year. The tour of six university cities will feature Czech bands Horkýže Slíže, Polemic, UDG and Sto zvířat. Admission to the concerts is free of charge.

“A number of universities have their rituals, such as welcoming first-year students. However, our event reaches across universities and the whole concept is inspired by similar successful formats abroad,” explains Markéta Vychytilová, Senior Head of Sponsoring and Events at T-Mobile.

In addition to concerts, the Back to School event will also offer an opportunity for students to share their summer holiday experiences and expectations for the upcoming term, and try out team amusements, all in the spirit of popular student fun.

The music road show will also stop in Olomouc, Brno and Prague. Due to a very sad event within the administration of the University of South Bohemia, the planned concert in České Budějovice will be replaced by a concert in Pardubice. The event is intended not only for university students, but also students of other schools as well as the general public. The aim of the tour is to show that faculties, residence halls, campuses and student cafeterias, as well as university and sports clubs and other university facilities are coming back to life with the start of the new academic year. More information is available at www.t-music.cz and on Facebook.

The choice of Horkýže Slíže, Sto zvířat, UDG and Polemic is not accidental. The Back to School tour is a continuation of previous projects organised under T-Mobile's music brand when three of the four bands went on t-music tours, which met with great success. Every year, all four bands also play concerts during the Rock for People festival, of which T-Mobile is the general partner.

In between the gigs, visitors can amuse themselves by attending the virtual t-music Academy studio. After successfully completing several exams, they will be awarded a degree and a diploma; T-Mobile customers will also receive a special T-shirt. Additional non-music-related entertainment will be prepared for visitors in a tent featuring a technical exposition and at food stalls.

The six venues of the t-music Back to School tour are traditional festival venues or locations near campuses and universities. Admission to the t-music Back to School 2011 events is free in all six cities.
