T-MOBILE TO SOON OPEN THE MOST ADVANCED CARRIER-NEUTRAL DATA CENTRE

The carrier-neutral data centre will offer an area of up to 3,000 m2 for customer IT infrastructure

The opening is scheduled for the first half of 2018; the data centre has already received its initial requests for services

It will be T-Mobile's most advanced data centre

In order to meet strong demand from customers, T-Mobile is planning to open the most advanced independent data centre in the Czech Republic ever at the beginning of 2018 under the name of "DC7". DC7's cornerstone laying ceremony was held today. "The demand for data centre services as well as leasing of computing power has been growing fast. Our existing capacities are filling up and, at the same time, we see ever increasing demands from customers. Therefore, we have been building a new data centre so that we can satisfy future demand not only from the Czech Republic but also from abroad. The new DC7 will be among the best that customers can get in the area of data centres in the Czech Republic and, I believe, it will be for a long time," says Petr Jeřábek, B2B Marketing Director at T-Mobile.

DC7 is being built in Prague 10 on a plot with an area of 25,000 square metres. The total area of the data centre will exceed 9,000 square metres, with data halls housing IT infrastructure having an area of up to 3,000 square metres. The data centre was designed to meet the TIER 3 (ANSI/TIA-942) standards. At the same time, it will be a carrier-neutral data centre, i.e. a facility offering connectivity that is independent on the data centre provider. "The construction follows a modular principle and the design takes into account zoning, when the entire facility is divided into three zones: administrative, technological and IT customer facilities. The zones help increase the overall physical and technological security because the individual zones can be accessed only by persons with the relevant responsibilities. This means, for example, that the entire customer IT infrastructure is physically separated from the supporting data centre technology, such as air-conditioning, fire suppression systems, UPS and other technologies," says Robert Vávra, Vice President Network and IT Operations at T-Mobile, describing DC7's infrastructure.

DC7 will offer state-of-the-art technologies and much more effective operation, which will have a positive effect on the total costs of the customers using it. T-Mobile has already begun negotiations with several important customers, even though DC7 still exists only in the form of the final project documentation and visualisations. "And why DC7? Apart from the fact that it is our seventh data centre in Prague, the administrative part of the building has the shape of the number seven. But this is just really a small detail. We hope that number seven is not the last and although it sets a very high standard, number eight will surely be even better sometime in the future," adds Jeřábek.
