T-Mobile Fund to help regions for the eighth time

  • A record number of 26 projects will share aid in the Louny district
  • Fourteen applicants succeeded in the Hradec Králové region

Prague, 5 November 2012 – This year T-Mobile is again supporting projects in the regions where it operates. For the eighth consecutive year, the Hradec Králové region and the Louny district will equally share CZK 2,000,000. This time evaluation committees had 115 applications to select from. It is apparent that the quality of applications is improving from year to year.

“In the next edition of the T-Mobile Fund, support will be extended to include training and development of non-profit organisations,” says Petra Pavičová, T-Mobile’s Corporate Social Responsibility Manager, adding: “This year we noticed deficiencies in the documents required for submission of the application; we would thus like to help even those who do not have much experience with grant applications to be more successful in the selection process.”

Louny district
The evaluation committee of the T-Mobile Fund for the Louny district met in mid-October. Facing no easy task, it had to select the best of 60 applications submitted by local non-profit organisations, among which CZK 1 million was then distributed. Although organisations could obtain up to CZK 100,000 for their projects, some of them did not aim for this maximum amount. The total amount of CZK 1 million was thus distributed among the record number of 26 projects.

The inhabitants of the Louny district can thus again be involved in all sorts of activities, whether as part of conservation of a natural site near Kryry or building of a stage and a dance floor in the Sokol gymnasium in Opočno. New trees will be planted by volunteers near the community of Slavětín and in Březno near Postoloprty. Kindergarten children will help with waste separation, and monuments, such as a cross in Malnice and the tower clock of the Church of the Exaltation of the Holy Cross in Radonice nad Ohří, will not go unnoticed either.

Hradec Králové region
Organisations in this region were no less active and registered 55 interesting projects. In addition to municipalities and experienced non-profit organisations, the applicants also included complete novices who wrote grant applications for the very first time. After a difficult decision making process, the evaluation committee eventually selected 14 projects that will receive grants. For the first time in the fund’s history, the option not to distribute the full amount of CZK 1 million available to the committee was used. The jurors decided to allocate nearly CZK 92,000 to a fund designed for development of organisations and of members of associations, which will be used for these activities in the course of next year.

As in the previous editions of the T-Mobile Fund, a number of the selected projects are focused on renewal, restoration or learning about the past. Again, various monuments, e.g. crosses and statues, will thus be restored. A historical oven at an inn in Záměl near Potštejn will also be refurbished. Nor have children been forgotten; they will take part in the restoration of the Jewish park in Náchod and improvement of a school garden in Zbečník. And hopefully as early as this winter, skiers will be able to enjoy new skate ski trails in the Dolní Kalná area.

Implementation of all of this year’s successful projects may take a maximum one year and it is restricted to the period from 1 December 2012 to 30 November 2013. The maximum contribution for one project is CZK 100,000. Over the course of eight years, T-Mobile has distributed more than CZK 22,000,000 among 403 projects. The partner of the T-Mobile Fund for the Louny district is Ústecká komunitní nadace (Community Foundation of Ústí nad Labem), and for the Hradec Králové region it is the VIA Foundation.
